Falling in love with science

Growing up in northern Peru, I discovered my love for science early. But I didn’t just want to learn about the world. I wanted to use science to make a difference.

From biology to… coding?

I moved to Lima and learned to code. At Samsung Innovation Campus, Python, AI and machine learning opened a new side of science.

Making AI matter

For my capstone project, we trained an AI model to detect cancer signs in lung scans. AI can free scientists to focus on work that needs human insight.

Now I’m taking AI even further

AI helps me analyse biological data, support disease research and predict outbreaks. I’m sharing what I learn with other researchers.

Science for everyone

I want science to empower everyone in Latin America. Where you come from shouldn’t limit where your ideas can take you.

So, what’s your dream?

I see myself, not just as a student. But as someone who can bridge science, technology and empathy to solve real challenges.

What is the Samsung Innovation Campus?

Samsung Innovation Campus is a global education program that helps youth build advanced IT skills and practical capabilities to create better opportunities. The program offers structured AI education suitable for the digital age, along with hands-on training, expert mentoring, and instruction in key future technologies like big data and IoT. Tailored programs are available for marginalized groups such as people with disabilities and women, to expand access to IT education.

Graduates pursue various career paths including IT employment, tech-driven startups, and social impact initiatives. Since its launch in 2013, more than 204,000 youth in 40 countries have joined the program, using technology to design their future and realize greater potential.
